SIDE NOTE REAL QUICK: Target has some FABULOUS purses right now. I know some of you may be bag snobs and you don't want your bag from "Target" ...BUT if someone else is judging...that means they were looking at the SAME BAGS, so get one! The Merona styles are my fav. right now.
MAMMO-GRAHAMS - A MUST FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH!
Mammo-Grahams for Breast Cancer Awareness! How funny?!?! Maybe have a Smore's bar?!
This is actually very easy to put together, and, yes, inexpensive too, using potatoes as a base. One option for the, er, fleshy part of the Mammo-Grahams was making them out of marzipan, but that could get very pricy very quickly. So I based them on a recipe for potato candy I found in Paula Deen’s dessert cookbook from The Lady and Sons; it’s normally used to make Easter Egg shapes. To make about a dozen, depending on, uh, cup size:
2 medium potatoes
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, chopped
2 16 ounce boxes powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or almond, actually, if you really wanted faux-marzipan)
2-3 tablespoons peanut butter
1-2 tablespoons cocoa powder
Other Mammo-Graham materials:
6 regular graham cracker rectangles, each broken into 2 squares (I personally now go with these gluten-free grahams from Kinnickinnick)
6 chocolate graham cracker rectangles, each broken into 2 squares
about 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips
about a dozen pink M&Ms, preferably both plain and peanut
Boil the potatoes just until soft. Drain, mash, and measure 1/2 cup out into a mixing bowl. Make a small snack of the excess with some sour cream and chives, I say. Add butter into mixing bowl, mix in thoroughly, and let cool completely(very important). Add sugar and vanilla/almond extract, knead until smooth.
Roll some of the dough into various ball sizes. Then add the peanut butter and knead thoroughly again – you may want to make a few different ‘complexions’, so you can add it in in increments, make a couple more balls, and repeat. Follow the same process with the cocoa, adding incrementally to represent different complexions!
Now gently squeeze each ball between a pair of graham crackers. Melt the chocolate chips (either in a microwave in 30 second increments or in a double boiler). Transfer to a ziploc bag, cut off the corner (as small as you can manage) and pipe some nice zigzaggy flourishes on top of each sandwich. Finally, complete each mammary with its own M&M nipple, using shades of pink and tan and brown as you please.
ADORABLE WAY TO TELL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT YOU'RE PREGNANT!
Tell them with a puzzle. It may sound lame but how cool to send friends and family a personalized puzzle sharing the great news.
Use your ultrasound picture with "We're pregnant" or "Guess What?" at the top...mail a puzzle to everyone..super easy and unique!
You can customize a puzzle at Walgreens, Walmart or look online (google: custom puzzles) and tons of places will show up...just grab the company that fits your style and budget.
HERE ARE OTHER CUTE WAYS TO TELL FAMILY THAT YOU'RE PREGNANT:
A QUICK AND EASY WAY TO KEEP TRACK OF WHEN YOUR KIDS OR A FAMILY MEMBER TAKES THEIR MEDICINE.
Mark a grid on the bottle, labeled with days and AM/PM with a Sharpie. The kids can help mark off their day and it keeps you sane during a long day. It's fool proof! P.s...I've started doing this for myself with thyriod medicine because I sometimes cannot remember if I took my meds or not! I atached a sharpie on a string to the bottle!
HOW TO KEEP PIZZA CRUST FROM GETTING HARD WHEN REHEATING:
Put a cup of water in a microwave safe cup and place it in the back corner of the microwave. Cook the pizza on medium power for 2 minutes.

PUMPKIN FACE MASK AND BODY SCRUB
The International Dermal Institute has a great post about the benefits of pumpkin in our beauty routines, which includes these points:
• Pumpkin is packed with fruit enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), which increase cell turnover, to brighten and smooth the skin.
• Pumpkin contains antioxidant Vitamin A and Vitamin C to help soften and soothe the skin and boost collagen production to prevent the signs of aging.
• Zinc in pumpkin seeds is brilliant for acne sufferers. Zinc will help control the hormone level and oil production, as well as assist with healing of the skin.
• Pumpkin seeds are high in essential fatty acids and Vitamin E, which are necessary to maintain good barrier function of the skin. They also regulate sebum, great for an oily skin.
• The molecular structure of pumpkin is small and therefore can penetrate deeper into the skin when used topically. This is amazing for treating a dull complexion, aging skin and pigmentation.
Pumpkin Pie Face Scrub
Mix a few tablespoons of cooked and mashed (or canned) pumpkin with 2 tablespoons of plain, unsweetened yogurt (rich in lactic acid, a great natural exfoliator) and 1 tablespoon of ground almonds and/or oats. Apply the scrub to your face and let it sit for a few minutes to allow the pumpkin and yogurt to start to soften dead skin cells before using your fingers to gently scrub your face in small curricular motions. The dead, dull skin cells will wash away and your face will look fresh and flawless!
Pumpkin Body Mask
Mix 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (fresh or canned),
1/2 cup virgin, cold-pressed coconut oil
(which not only moisturizes, but also helps to exfoliate deal cells and even has anti-bacterial properties) and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (which is antioxidant rich, anti-bacterial and smells delicious!). Apply generously to clean skin (in the shower is neatest!) and massage it into the skin. After 10 minutes, rinse with warm water and pat dry – we think this is a perfect body treat to do while you let a deep conditioning hair mask steep!
