MASON JAR LANTERNS
This is a wonderful project for the kids to do...or something great to try in glass. It also pays off for a cute candle holder or candy jar for Halloween. The good part...you can store it away for next year too!!
Mason Jars, any size
Ribbon or paint for the tops (explained below)
Start by cutting your tissue paper into strips about 1-2 inches wide. Brush a thin layer of mod podge on the glass jar and stick a strip of tissue to it.
Take more mod podge and brush on top of it, sealing it onto the jar.
Work one strip at a time until you cover the entire jar. I covered the bottom as well and on the top I went a little above the rim just to make sure there wasn’t any plain glass peeking through when I put a ribbon around the top. Place your jar upside down to dry. Keep working until you finish however many jars you’re going to do.
As your jars are drying, work on your faces. Cut out faces from black paper and use a glue stick to glue them onto the jars. I waited until the jars were dry before gluing on the faces. I also tried attaching them just with mod podge and they didn’t stay. For the silly monster faces, I used these as a guidline, available from Not So Idle Hands.
Look how cute! For the tops you can use paint to paint around the rims, or you can do what I did and attach a piece of ribbon.

YANKEE CANDLES NEW LINE
Yankee Candle is already over Halloween and is plugging a new Thanksgiving Dinner line which includes Cranberry Sauce, Sweet Potato Pie, and *drum(stick) roll* Turkey and Stuffing. You can dress them up like a pilgrim or a turkey pilgrim. I love turkey, stuffing, and candles so I went in for a whiff. DEFINITELY...NOT MY FAVORITE! But if you're really in to Turkey smells...this is for you!
This is simple and will spice up a room if you're in the mood to decorate. If you check out the nearest Michaels Craft store you can buy a string of leaves (they should be 50% off right now) and drape that along the chandelier. THEN...you can fill it with pumpkins, pine cones...they have artificial items that are on sale for 1 - 2 bucks on the same isle.
Some options...the kids can do!
I tend to decorate for FALL... vs. Halloween then Fall... simply because you save money and can leave this stuff up for 2 months!
I buy a few things for Halloween....but those are easy to take down items.
Also...you can do your mantel the same way
