Pat Summerall was the ying to John Madden’s yang. The calm to his storm. And yesterday, one half of the best NFL sports broadcast teams passed away of cardiac arrest at the age of 82.
Summerall played in the NFL for 10 seasons with the Chicago Cardinals and the NY Giants. In 1964, he started his broadcast career. Along with football, he broadcast the Masters and the US Open. He was part of the broadcast team for the Inaugural Super Bowl in 1967.
