Former NC State standout and number one draft pick, Mario Williams is suing his ex-fiancée, Erin Marzouki, for a 10-carat engagement ring estimated at $785,000.

The Buffalo Bills defensive end claims in his lawsuit that Marzouki never intended to marry him and she used him as a means to his money. In addition to the ring, Williams purchased $230,000 worth of “luxury items” for Marzouki, and he also gave her an American express card that she used to ring up $108,000 worth of charges within the year.   

Williams proposed to Marzouki in February 2012 while he was still living in Texas
and with the Houston Texans. Under Texas law, an engagement ring is a ‘conditional gift’, and in this case, the condition was marriage. Since Marzouki called off the engagement and the
marriage will not happen, Williams wants the ring back, but Marzouki refuses to return it. 

It was a defense-heavy first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.  Only one QB and 3 WR were selected in the first 32 picks.

Kansas City started the night by picking Eric Fisher, an OT from Central Michigan
as the number one overall pick. Manti Te’o and Geno Smith both fell out of the first round.

The 2013 NFL Draft starts tonight, so I decided to look back at drafts of years past. Here are my top 5 first round picks that turned into flops on the field.

1. Ryan Leaf, QB: Picked No 2 overall in 1998 by San Diego, Leaf played in just 21 games.
   He tried making a comeback in 2001 with Dallas, but only last 4 games. Leaf now      resides in Montana, where he has had several run-ins with the law stemming from a drug addiction.
2. JaMarcuss Russell, QB: Picked No 1 overall in 2007 by Oakland, Russell was cut just three years later. In 25 starts he won only 7 games, threw 18 TDs and 23 INTs. He has had his share of financial and legal problems since he has been out of the league.
3. Akili Smith, QB:  Picked No. 3 overall in 1999 by Cincinnati, Smith made only 17 starts in 4 seasons and the Bengals won only 16 games. Smith was cut and never played in the NFL again. He currently coaches high school football.
4. Lawrence Phillips, RB: Picked No. 6 overall in 1996 by St. Louis, Phillips had legal problems coming into the league. He ran for 1265 yards in two seasons, but was cut for his major character issues. He received more chances by Miami and San Francisco, but neither worked out. Phillips was sentenced to prison in 2008 after being convicted for domestic violence and assault.
5. Andre Johnson, OT: Picked No. 30 overall in 1996 by Washington, Johnson never played in a game with the Redskins. Cut after his first year, Detroit took a chance on him, but he only played in 3 games. He currently is a business owner in Virginia
