It’s tax day! Only 6% of Americans think they pay LESS than their fair share in taxes. 35% said they pay more, 33% said it's about right, and 26% weren't sure. Also, 6% of Americans usually wait until the last minute to file. And the top thing we do with our refund is pay off debt. Anyone really shocked at this?
Here are some tax day freebies to help ease the stress of tax season:
Hardee's — Hardee’s is giving away sausage biscuit sandwiches from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on today. The key: Customers need to say the password "Made from Scratch" to get the deal, according to a spokesman. It's the first time Hardee's has offered a tax day deal.
Bruegger's Bagels — Bruegger’s is offering its "Big Bagel Bundle" for $10.40 today. The bundle includes 13 bagels and two tubs of cream cheese, which the company says is a savings of about $3.50 from the regular price.
Quiznos — Quiznos is offering another 1040 special -- a discount of 10.40 percent from any purchase, including catering, today. The company said customers who download its loyalty app will also receive a free four-inch sub sandwich.
Applebee's — It may not be an exclusive tax day freebee, but the "dollarita" -- a margarita that costs one dollar -- is back this month. The promotion began on April 1 and is available only for dine-in customers.
Outback — Get a FREE Bloomin' Onion with any purchase on 4/17. One per table. Just say "Bloomin' Tuesday" to your server to receive the offer.
Chili's Grill & Bar — The Cuervo Blue Margarita is $5 on April 17 at participating locations. No coupon is needed. Just ask the server for the offer. The Cherry Blossom Margarita is $5 during the whole month of April. See details on their Facebook page.
Bite Squad — Online food ordering service Bite Squad is offering 7.5 percent off orders today. To get the discount, use the code TAXDAY18 when ordering.
Chuck E. Cheese — Chuck E. Cheese is providing a buy one, get one free offer on cheese pizzas from April 17 to 19, citing the tax deadline as a stressful time for families. For every large pizza ordered, the chain will provide one large cheese pizza for free.
Grimaldi's — The pizza chain is offering another deal on a pie. Today, they will sell 16-inch traditional pizzas for $10.40. Gimaldi's has locations in 13 states including California and Texas.
Noodles & Co. — Noodles & Co. will offer $4 off orders of $10 or more through Wednesday. The deal is for online orders only, and customers should use the tax code TAXDAY18.
Tony Roma's — Tony Roma's will give a coupon for a free Kickin' Shrimp -- fried shrimp in a cream sauce -- when customers order an entree today.
Hooters — Now through April 17, kids under 12 will receive a free kids meal with any purchase of $10 or more.
McDonald's — On April 17, if you use the McDonald's app, customers can get a 10-piece chicken Mcnugget for $1.48.
P.F. Chang's — Use promo code TAXDAY for 15 percent off a takeout order. Enter the promo code online or mention it via phone.
Boston Market — On April 17, participating Boston Markets are offering $10.40 half chicken meal with two sides, cornbread and a drink. Customers can also purchase a $10.99 Rosemary Lemon Chicken with drink.
Firehouse Subs — From April 17 - April 19, customers can score a free medium sub with a purchase of any medium or large sub, chips and a drink. Be sure to use this coupon.
Staples — Now through April 21st, Staples is offering one pound of document shredding completely free when you use this coupon.
Office Depot/Office Max — Through April 28, customers can get 5 free pounds of document shredding using this coupon.
Planet Fitness — Now through April 21st, Planet Fitness is allowing members to recover from tax season tension by receiving a free hydro massage. To redeem, bring in this coupon.
