We're less than a month away from the steamy release of the second installment in the Fifty Shades trilogy, Fifty Shades Darker. This film has brought us fantasy, drama, romance and sex...tons of it! Filming the movie may seem like a pleasure (ahem) but in reality, it's far from sexy and fun.
Dakota Johnson, who plays the naive Anastasia Steele, has discussed how simulating sex is actually exhausting, "We're not having actual sex. But I've been simulating sex for seven hours straight right now and I'm over it. It's not…comfortable. It's pretty tedious."
As for Jamie Dornan, who plays the incredibly handsome Christian Grey, says that the attire for the sex scenes were quite...weird. "Your dignity is intact as much as it's all tucked away in a little flesh-colored bag... As a guy you put all your essentials in a little bag and you tie it up like a little bag of grapes and it's tucked away. Its quite a peculiar thing to do every day."
He also mentions that having his sex face on screen is "The worst thing imaginable. For all the reasons anyone would think, most people would like to keep their sex face private. The idea of a million people seeing that! I hope it happens quite fast!" We can definitely understand that! Most people don't have to display their sex face for millions of people to see.
The actors seems to be perfectly comfortable while filming the scenes, but when the cameras aren't rolling Dornan said he's the first one to throw a dressing gown over Johnson to make her feel comfortable; "She's the one who is very naked and tied up. As in the story, I'm the one who's in control of it so filming the sex scenes was far harder for her...It makes sense to be in the position she is between action and cut, but when they called cut, as the closest person to her I felt the need to throw a dressing gown over her, untie her, make sure everyone kept their distance for a while until she was comfortable. I'd be a pretty awful human being if I didn't do that." Johnson has said she's not afraid of nudity, but it's still not easy taking off your clothes and laying there naked in front of people. Good thing her costar has her back!
Fifty Shades Darker is out in theaters February 10, 2017.
