How To Get Paid For Damages Caused By Potholes

This month’s snow and ice means drivers should look out for potholes and SPEAK UP. The DOT says the “freeze, thaw, freeze” cycle can cause dangerous and destructive potholes. As a driver it is YOUR responsibility to let the DOT know about potholes. Once they have have been reported, people have a slightly better chance of getting damages covered, but it’s not an easy process. There is no chance of reimbursement if crews were not reported, so it is important to that you do so online. Between 2013-2015 the department paid on only 7% of claims. Fixes are not guaranteed immediately but the sooner they’re reported the sooner it’ll be on the fix list.
